Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Does my '05 Escape have the auto door lock feature? If so, how do I activate it? I sure would like the doors to lock shortly after starting..
many thanks.

Gee I don't know. Check your owner's manual, I'd guess that if it is/was available they would have info on it there.

The auto lock is an option. Your manual will explain how to set it up.

My manual mentions nothing about auto door lock in the LOCKS SECTION.. Does this mean that this feature is optional and I might not have it?? Many thanks.

The reason they don't lock until the vehicle moves was too many mechanics locked the keys in the car with the engine running while servicing the engine!

Default 2005 Ford Escape XLT

I am hoping someone out there can help me! After 3 1/2 yrs. of having auto lock feature on my car, it stopped working. I followed the reset process in the owner's manual but to no avail. The vehicle has now been to 2 dealerships, both of whom agreed that the car definitely had the locks. Neither of them could find the feature and emailed Ford Motor Co. The response from Ford is that the 2001-2005 Escape did not have this feature. Why would I take the car in for service on something I NEVER had?! This is the most bizarre situation since all my family and friends have been in the car and witnessed how the locks automatically locked when I began to drive. Everyone commented on what a good feature this was. I wonder if the computer diagnostic used did not recognize that the car had the feature? Could it be a fuse? Several mechanics tried to reset the system as well using the key fob. We tried everything we could think of. It cost me $123.00 to have the car diagnosed by the computer only to be told nothing was broken since nothing (auto lock) was ever installed on the car. PLEASE...if someone out there knows anything about this and how to fix it...PLEASE...let me know.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance I can get!
