Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Default 08-09 aftermarket deck kit: Scosche or Metra? "Excellent Install Photos!"

Getting ready to pick up a double-din CD deck to replace the paperweight that comes in the XLS base model. In order to install, a double-din faceplate kit is required. Two companies are making 'em right now:

Scosche FD1436
Metra 99-5814

Both look like they'll do the job. However, I've heard complaints in the past about the quality of Metra's products; to complicate matters, the Metra specifically says that it's textured to match the stock setup, but the Scosche says nothing of the sort. My primary concern is fitment, but if both fit well enough, I'd like to pick the one that matches the factory plastic the best. A lot of times, aftermarket ABS products look less than stellar.

Does anyone have first-hand experience with installing an aftermarket deck using either of these kits? They're specific to our vehicle and I just want to make sure that my install looks as OEM as possible.
