Ford EscapeThe Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.
after my escape sits for a time and i pull my dip stick on my non-hybrid 4 cyl... it shows no oil...
BUT, when i re-insert it and pull it... its FULL !
what’s up with that?
i know im dripping oil, dealer told me rear main($800).... but this dipstick thing has me confused
my JD317 mower does the opposite... overfull when first pulled, but that might make sense, if the oil wicks up the stick when sitting.. but i don’t see how it can wick down.. then be full....
that does sound odd, but only check your oil when the engine is fully warm and a few minutes after shutdown and ignore readings at all other times. The first dipstick reading is always less accurate, so pull the stick, clean it and reinsert to get the most accurate reading. This doesn't answer how you reading changes, but you really don't have to worry about it if you check it as described above.
