Ford EscapeThe Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.
This morning, and then again this evening, I noticed steam coming from under the hood. A little at first, then a lot. Pulled over and traced the source- if I get under the front and look up, just past the plastic cowlings, there's a small, maybe 3/4 diameter hose about 6 inches long. Has hose clamps on both ends, goes from solid metal line up to a metal covering. There was a small, pinhole leak in the hose and it was spraying out and hitting the exhaust 2 inches away. What hose is that?
Leaks always get worse
Leaks on the bottom are capable of depleting your entire coolant supply
It is not wise to continue driving this car. Engine damage will occur.
So get under there and loosen it up, and get a new piece from auto parts store. Of course there is a possibility that is is a special hose, and may have to be acquired from Ford.
