Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Question 2009 Cloth fabric staining?

I'm currently in Iraq and I'm having a 2009 Escape XLT being built for me through a program we've got out here and I'm trying to decide on what material interior I should get.... unfortunately there are no actual dealerships so there is no way for me to actually view the materials or test drive them.

From what I've read, the 2008 Escape's fabric was incredibly easy to stain and trying to clean it made the stains even worse. Did Ford improve on the material used in the "Premium" Cloth seats, or are they still subjective to easy staining?

My wallet would prefer cloth seats, but my wife and I are having a baby and stains are a big concern for her, and if the cloth is garbage like the 2008 models I guess I can always extend for another month here in country to pay it off.

Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Well, without scotch guard and all that, is it safe to assume the fabric seats of 2009 Escapes will stain just as easily and badly as the 2008 Escapes?

Get the dark seats, get the protection plan that they sell from the dealership, or get seat covers. I have the light CAMEL interior and I am a clean guy the Escape is always clean and shinning, but for some darn reason the seats get stained. I have 2 stains from water!!!! A water that just came from the shelf brand neew fell in the back seat and open and stained it the seat. Luckily I have a carpet shampooer with a hand shampooer.

Go with leather seats, fabric looks good but stains easily, even from rain.

Also get the 4 cylinder engine to avoid the hassle of Ford correcting the noise problems built into the 2009 model.

FWIW I have a 09 with black fabric. I did read about "stains" on this forum and did notice 'white" ring stain from a wet swim suit. it cleaned right up with a damp rag. I did scotch guard them after that and after 1 yr no stains at all.

Would leather clean easier...assume so.
