Ford EscapeThe Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.
I have a 2005 Hybrid Escape with the built-in navigation system, and a CD changer. I would like to have the stereo modified to allow an MP3 jack, but I'm told that I would have to give up the CD changer for that. That would leave only the in-dash CD, which is generally holding the navigation CD.
I've thought about replacing the whole system, but I'm told that I would not be able to see the mileage/access ratings any longer and that no other system would replace those functions.
I am wondering if anyone has advice on what sort of system might give me the best of all possible worlds. In order of priority, I'd like to keep:
1. The MPG/battery/etc. indicator
2. The navigation aspect
3. The CD changer
