Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Default Escape as a work vehicle

So any of you guys use your escape for a work vehicle? I have an opportunity to earn some good money working on the side a few nights a week. My current Co. gives me a nice work rig/construction. This night job, I'll have to use my own vehicle..it's a dirty job and I'm thinking about making some removable tool boxes that would attach to the trailer hitch. Other option is to make a pull out box that would sit in the rear. In that case the inside of the car would be real prone to getting grease marks. Any after market items you can refer me to look at so I can either copy it or purchase something.
Thanks.

I have a Husky Cargo Tray. It fits in the area behind the back seats only. Thick rubber with curled up edges, just pull it out and hose it down. I got mine from AutoAnything here: Husky Cargo Liners, Husky Cargo Liner

That is nice.. I think I'll purchase that and maybe run a metal liner along the back of the seats, with a nice size tool box. That tan will actually be a perfect match as well.
Thanks

Let me know what you think about this idea. Put a nice sheet metal box, approx size of the rear storage area on top if the cargo tray. Tig weld a 1"OD piece of tubing with a "T" on the bottom in a sleeve. When I pull the tool box out, I release the tubing and the box is basically outside the cargo area. Take out what I need, slide the " _I_" stand back in place and push the box back in the cargo area.
The tools are basically extension cords, drop lights, 3' sections of pipe with couplings, paint scrapers and degreasing chemicals. a few more items but it will be pretty light weight. The main thing is to keep the grease off the the interior to the best of my ability.. Thoughts?

Not sure if I follow that exactly but the Husky Cargo Liner has a lip, all the way around. It's textured finish doesn't alllow easy sliding of objects.

I actually picked one up today and found a plastic "Stanly" mobile tool box with rollers. 65.00 with a pop-up handle. So with the cargo tray and the Stanly box I'm set. Best of all it was cheaper for me to purchase the box that size then it would have been for me to make a nice one.. I'd love to see an Escape with all the bells and whistles tool box, rack, maybe wheel well(sp) chests and a tool box that sits up against the back seats? Pic request...........
