Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Default Cargo carrier recommendations?

Any current Escape owners using a rooftop cargo carrier? I'm thinking of buying one of these Yakimas SkyBox Car Top Carrier - with Free Wall Guard - Yakima Brand Car Top Carriers, but would appreciate any feedback you'd have to share from your road experiences.

I have a friend who has one of those and really likes it because it holds 4 sets of skis. (He does NOT have an Escape.)

Does your Escape have roof rails already and do you know how this would attach ?

Default Roof rails - yes

Hi, Yes, I have the roof rails already installed. I've taken a look at the Yakima instruction manual http://www.cartopcarriershops.com/YASKYBOXmanual.pdf which makes it look fairly straightforward. We are upgrading from an old hamburger box type cargo carrier, so have a little bit of experience. Thanks for sharing your input!

I had the older model Skybox 21, took it on all kinds of cross country trips, and loved it. It was a great box, and I definitely recommend it. The new one sounds even better.
Here is a not so good pic of mine, on top of my Sequoia.

This is an inquiry: are Escape owners interested in a soft rear mounted cargo carrier. If interested in one contact me. It mounts directly on the hatch back, folds up small, has virtually no wind drag, is a fraction of the cost of roof box systems.

Disclosure: We have developed and are test marketing a new fuel efficient cargo carrying product, for smaller cars, SUVs, crossovers, minivans etc.
