Ford EscapeThe Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.
newbie here about to purchase a new escape, im new to the Ford lineup, coming from HONDA.
Looking forward to my new truck.
Can anyone point out some necessities to look into before going for the final plunge to buy?
I'm looking into a FWD 4 cylinder engine. I am in Quebec but feel the 4wd a little pricey and the v6 to be very powerful for my actual needs.
Having said that i would like to mention the interior is very important to me. Up until now i was going to get the navi system but realizing i can't play a DVD in the background while driving was a deal breaker for me. I already have a gps. I do like the look of the inside dash but its pricey. Also i'm afraid there is no traffic coverage with sirius in quebec, not for sat radio but for traffic and other streamed information. So its basically useless!
Any advice to give out is appreciated, i will be using this forum often with my new vehicle for the coming years!
we got the 09 4 cyl 6 speed auto recently, we got the xlt and it pretty much has all we need. I like the stone coloured interior best, with it you get alternating coloured panels on the interior and I think it looks nicest.
I added the sync since it's illegal to drive while using a cel phone in Ontario. Satellite radio is great, I don't care much of the traffic aspect of it, but everyone has different needs. GPS is always nice to have but factory options are always so much more than your typical off the shelf GPS. We also added ambient lighting, I thought that was a cool option for the interior, I (and my son) love it. There is a convenience option that is pretty good, it gives you temperature and fuel economy info on the center display, it's a decent set of features. They have heated seats if your into stuff like that, we never got it though.
I think the Escape has some good features above the comparable Honda CRV - fuel economy, 6 speed auto, increased storage room, etc...... . We love our Escape, it runs great and is really comfy on long trips.
I like the fact of customising the vehicle as this is what i want to do. Unfortunately most dealers here in Montreal are trying to sell me something that alrady exists out there. Basically im at the point where i would purchase the limited version but i don't need the leather seats or sunroof. So i would be spending so much more money because of some options.
I looking or want the XLT with ambient lighting and sync along with a 4 cyl and not necessarily a 4WD.
Im so confused and dealers more than one aren't really helping!!!

what's so confusing, pick out the colour that you want (exterior and interior), the options and hammer out the best deal that you can get.
I had an 06 xlt with 4wd, and we also had an 06 limited 4wd. The limiteds are really nice but they add a lot to the cost of the vehicle. This time around we went with 2wd to maximize fuel economy, and they still have great traction. I don't miss the 4wd at all in normal winter conditions.
