Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

The manual states not to use friction modifiers during the 1000 mile break-in period. I'm considering switching to Mobil 1 at 7500 miles. I've already changed the oil at 3K miles with Motorcraft blend.

If the choice is between Mobile 1 and Castrol Syntec, which would it be, in your opinion?

well Mobil1 is a group 4 and 5 true synthetic oil. Most of Castrol's North American produced synthetic brands are only group 3 suedo synthetic oils. You may never notice a real difference but if your going to be paying top dollar for synthetic oil you may as well get the real stuff IMO. Castrol may make some real synthetic group 4 and 5 oils in other parts of the world but that doesn't apply to all of their synthetic branded oils over here.

Get you some Mobil 1 and change it at 3000 miles. That's what I did on our 2009 Escape. This is a factory fill on Corvettes, Dodge Vipers, as well as Mercedes Benzes. That should tell you something right there... I also put a bottle of Redline Water Wetter in all of my vehicles as well.
