Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Default anyone else build an Xlt with options instead of limited

Hey all i've been looking at the differences between the limited and just building the xlt with favorite options. Anyone else realize its much cheaper?
Im getting about $5000 less with a few options that i would miss out on with the limited that does not justify the price difference?

Anyone else in the market noticing this?
What do you think?

Thanks!

absolutely, the cost difference to jump to the Limited has always been pretty steep, though the Limited is still a great value for what you get. I know in the last generation Escape the Limited offered better ride, noise reduction, and handling traits over the xlt, I'm not sure if that carrries over to the current generation. My sister has an 06 Limited and I had the 06 xlt and I loved driving her Escape every chance I got. I now have an 09 xlt, though I love the Limited the xlt was more in my price range. The Limited has some appearance and technology upgrades that factor into the price, so it will always be more expensive than the xlt with option packages.

You brought this up in another thread before! There's no difference in parts used between a XLT or Limited that would cause a better ride or handling.

I'll be adding alot of options to the XLt and I almost build it like a Limited but $5000 less. I left out what i don't want by customizing an XLT, and i thought that was great i never bought something from scratch with what i want on it.

in the last generation Escape there was a perceptible difference in ride, quietness, and handling between the xlt and limited. One of these days I'll dig up the reasons for that but I've got more important things to do with my life right now. One of the technicians at my dealership confirmed that there are parts differences between the two when we had the limted in for suspension repairs, but I didn't get into details with him at the time. This was on an 06 limited vs. 06 xlt, I can't say if there are any differences between the two on an 09. That's my story and I'm sticking to it because I could drive the two different models back to back at will it was very easy to tell the difference.
