Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

at best it does nothing, at worst the ptfe is trapped by the oil filter. Since the government made the makers of Slick 50 admit that their claims are false I thought that people stopped using that product, I wasn't aware that it was still in production. Personally I wouldn't use it because I can't see how ptfe can adere to metal parts of an engine like they claim it does. I'd rather spend the money on a good oil.

yeah, I will admit that I used in on my cars in my younger days when I believed the hype, afterall ptfe is the slipperiest substance known to man and if they used it on the space shuttle it should be great for my cars...........

I think Dupont (the makers of ptfe) came out and said that their product should not be used in gas engines as it did not provide any benefits, or something like that, though Dupont was legally obligated to sell their product to Petrolon (Slick 50). Do a search on Petrolon or slick 50, there is lots of legal info on the internet about this issue.

I used it waaaay back on my 1987 Suzuki Samurai. I'm pretty sure it caused the ticking noise in the engine that none of the mechanics I took it to could diagnose.

You'd be way better of just being diligent with oil and filter changes.

Yep the suspended PTFE particles get stuck in your filter cause filters trap particles like dirt, nothing like a Teflon coated filter that is plugging the oil flow to your engine. Last time I read the bottle it said "Shake Well before using" never shake any oil going into an engine cause it creates air pockets that can damage bearings.

However I have used Duralube in the past. Duralube was a proven product.

P.S. I had my 1978 Mustang II V8 302 engine seize on Slick 50 with just over 80k on the clock, Slick 50 said I had to prove the engine failed due to the Slick 50 to warranty it, My mechanic said it was impossible to prove it.

IMHO I would not use any "additive"...especially in a new motor. You really want the rings to set well on a new motor. fully synthetic oils and 'additives" marketed to reduce friction do not help that process.

Wal Mart carries the Motorcraft 0-20 "semi" synthetic (what factory fill is) in a 5qt jug for about $14

I have a 2009 escape with approx. 4,000 miles which I towed for the first time and within 200 miles the transmission started boiling out. I towed it as instructed in the manual at 60 miles per hour with only a few times going to 65 miles per hour. I purchased this vehicle because it could be towed with the automatic transmission. The transmission was replaced under warranty with a new transmission. I wonder if anybody else has had any experience towing the 2009 Escape. It is a 6 cylinder.

If you want to imfrove your engine life I would switch to a good quality synthetic oil.
