Ford EscapeThe Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.
I called Ford Parts looking for a locking gas cap for my '05 Escape. They have one listed and they can order for me. But one of the parts guys said I can't use a locking gas cap, even one of theirs. He said they cause the CEL to go on.
They did sell me one (and I installed it) for my wife's 2000 Windstar.
Anyone have any previous experience using a locking gas cap on their Escape?
as long as it's a Ford gas cap you should be fine, I can't see it making any difference. I might suspect an aftermarket locking cap causing that problem but not a Ford specific cap as they are made for the vehicle just like the factory part they replace. I find that many parts guys say the strangest things.
