Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

I just replied to another post about this. My 2002 rear passenger door was stuck for a long time. Sadly I can't offer you a solution as my dad fixed it for me & simply said 'I don't know what was wrong or what I did, but it opens now.' He's worked on cars his whole life, so typically he can figure out the problem, but with this one he just messed around until he got it open. He did have to pull the interior panel off first though.

As for the window, same door, mine got stuck in a down position. (This is what prompted me to bring my car to him. I dealt with the stuck shut door for over a year, but a stuck down window..can't handle that) The bar that holds the pullys to raise/lower the window, a metal hook type piece that held the wires in place had broke off. He was able to remove the broken piece and bend another part back to take it's place, but we couldn't get the pullys back into the bar correctly. Eventually he got it back (something about a coil piece not being in all the way, I wasn't there when he fixed that part) but I can tell you that if the part needs to be replaced, it runs around $100. Good luck & let me know if you want more info. I can call him & get a better description for you.

My mechanic said that it was the actuator, made by Kiekert, part #4500 5424. The Ford parts store wants $175 for this part.
