Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Default Dies When shifting into gear

Hello everyone.

2006 3.0L V6 4WD.

The car has about 90k on it. Never any problems. Now all of the sudden it keeps dying at stoplights or when shifting from Park to gear. It always re-starts and idles fine. Once I get driving it runs fine.

Comming to a stop, it dies. Especially if it is a quick stop like off the highway to a stoplight. If I slow way down early it usually stays running.

Just replaced the air filter and oil changed. Checked and lubed the cables just in case one was catching.

No engine lights or any indication that something is wrong.
Coils and Plugs were my next target but I dont want to swap parts until i get luck and fix it.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Clean the IAC and MAF.

At 90K miles, it is probably due for plugs. Also check for vacuum leaks.

I did look for vacuum leaks as well, the hoses looked good.
I will get the MAF and IAC cleaned as well.

I will do the plugs ASAP. I am out of town and it is the wife's car, I'll have all the work done on Saturday.

Thank you for the quick reply.
