Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

How much cargo weight can be placed directly on the roof between the roof rack crossbars on a 2008 Escape ?

I belive it is 50-75lbs (ie in a soft-shell cargo bag)...and 150 lbs if the load is applied to the crossbars and not the roof itself. check out the carriers at Start Page - Thule Group they should have some specs. Personally I would use a system that doesn not sit on the sheetmetal, but that is jsut me being fussy about the paint and not wanting any dents.
