Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Exclamation 2006 Escape engine failure

I purchased a used 2006 Escape a year ago. It was a lease buy-back with 62000 km at the time. 2 weeks ago I took my Escape to the dealership because it was making a loud ticking noise in the engine. With 102,000 km on this 3 year old vehicle, I was informed that the number 3 rod bearing was spun, and the only option was to replace the motor. The service department was great at finding me a used motor from the government salvage yard, which cost me half what a rebuilt would have. Still, when all parts, labor, etc. was done, I was looking at a bill for over $5000. I can't understand why a vehicle this new with mileage that I wouldn't consider overly high, would have this happen. Of course, there is no type of warranty left on it, so I am stuck with the whole bill. The dealership suggested I call Ford Canada, but I honestly don't think they will offer any assistance. This is just a heads up for others with these vehicles!!
