Ford EscapeThe Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.
I called the BBB about the bad transmission on my Escape. I got it in April and complained from day one something was wrong. ONLY until last week did they tell me after 6 months of getting them to find the issue did they tell me I needed a whole new transmission!
I called the Better Business Bureau and sent in a complaint online Monday.
I got a call from Ford this morning! So, if you want fast or faster action call or email the BBB and get Ford's attention. ONLY when they see complaints rolling in on the transmission issues will they see something was very wrong with the over all % of bad Escapes.
Look, I LOVE my Escape! I just want a new one that I paid for! I do not want a rebuilt one because resale on it will be zero to none when we try to sell it!
You wont be able to get a "new" transmission its just not offered.A factory rebuilt unit or "black box" is what you will get.We have very few trans problems at this dealership involving escapes. We have a fleet of Blood center Escapes all close to 200k maintence done religiously and they only experienced 1 failure at 190k.
When you make posts like this you should include what problem you are having, symtoms and such, what the dealership has done how many times it has been in the shop and what miles. You havent told what maintenece you have had done. This site is here to help so dont be offended or take tis post the wrong way,its just we need more information to be able to help.

By factory rebuilt or black box is exactly what? A factory reassembled unit I'm thinking which really isn't that bad at all.
Having worked for Ford at a manufacturing/assembly plant, I know how a assembly a loop system works. During the assembly process many tests are performed and a assembly fail a test. It's flagged or marked, leaves the loop at a repair operation where it's torn down, some components may be scrapped like seals, bearings, fastners, etc. All major components are put back in the system to be used again. So, a new transmission doesn't really mean that it's brand new or only built once.
Being very particular about my car, I know how you feel.
Sounds like they are doing the right thing by replacing the transmission. As long as they provide the full powertrain warranty on the replacement (and not typical 1yr/12k coverage) I don't think you have anything to worry about. If the repair is properly done and normal operation of the vehicle is restored, I see no reason to think the value of the car has changed.
The powertrain warranty will not change. Most of the Ford black box Transmission now carry a 3/36 warranty but it will usually not go past the factory powertrain warranty. There are however various exceptions to warranty rules.
I purchased a Ford Escape in March 09. I was told it was a "program car" and it has about 12K miles. I did not check to make sure I was being told the truth. Well, 6 months later the Escape has been in the shop (3) because it won't run correctly, I am afraid to pull into traffic, more often than not it hestitates when I back up, transmission making load noises, etc. A cam sensor has been replaced, a fuel injector and now the fuel pump. I'm a little slow but I finally thought I better check the carfax, how appaling, turns out it was a rental and transmission was replaced (with who knows what) at 11,000 miles. I love the Escape but these continuing problems make it difficult to enjoy. I have contacted the dealership but it looks I may have to take other steps to have them make this right.
They have an addition for the year 2010 model only two new features that will be standard on all trims: Ford's MyKey and trailer sway controls. everything else that was added in their 2008 and 2009 Traffic School model year will be carried over but the the optional orders have been renamed to Rapid Specification Codes (100s for XLS, 200s for XLT, and 300s for Limited). good luck to you. coz ford always updating their gears
