Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Default 2006 Limited Squeak from down under

Can anyone offer some help? I have a 2006 limited with 12K on it. There is a squeak from underneath the car that only happens after there has been no rain for several weeks. Once it starts raining the squeak will go away within a matter on minutes and stay gone for several weeks. The dealer looked at all the bushings but could find no issues. Any other suggestions or hints?

Smile 06 Escape squeek

My 06 Escape XLT V6 Had a squeek once in a while. Sometimes it was very quiet and sometimes it was very loud. It has 14k miles. Sounded kind of like styrofoam squeeking sometime. Seems the left rear shock was the problem. When I had more weight in the car, (even a full tank of gas) it was more noticable. The shock was replaced last week and the squeek is totally gone. When the service writer at the dealer test drove it with me, he knew immediately it was from the left rear. He looked under when we got back and noticed the top housing of the shock was rubbing on the bottom cylinder. You could see a rusted rub mark on the bottom cylinder of the shock. I read this problem that other people also had and it was the shock.
