Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Question Playing MP3's in my Ford Escape

I bought a Ford Escape Hybrid last month. The dealership said that the equipped Navigation System(GPS thingy) could play MP3's. Ford says that it takes an MP3 CD. What is an MP3 cd? I can make data cd's that have MP3's on them till the cows come home but they don't work. The service manager at my local Ford dealer said that you can buy MP3 CD's from Best Buy. I want to Create My own. Has anyone had success with doing this? How would I proceed? I looked on google and it gives me a bunch of crap about nothing. I hope someone out there can help.

Thanks.

Default MP3 CDs

An MP3 Cd is just that. It is a CD that you have copied MP3 files to or burned useing a program such as Media Player, or Itunes or the such. The program that you use will prompt you to burn an MP3 CD. However you need to note that if you purchase songs from Itunes that these songs are copied protected and will not play in a MP3 player.

Ok, I have done that many times, made an MP3 CD. Why won't my Ford Escape play the MP3 cd when the manual says that the navigation system will play MP3's? I do have the Navigation system.

I have a 2003 Escape and it'll play MP3s if I only burn about 15 to 20 songs onto the CD.

That kind of defeats the purpose of being able to play MP3's if you can only put 15-20 songs on the disc.

Freking, it should be able to play the Data disc that you burned with MP3's on it. I would take it to the dealer and have them fix it. Good luck getting a new one though, which is probably what it will take to fix it.

I am also disappointed with the MP3 problem. My Escape hybrid 07 doesn't play MP3s either. Now dealer tells me it doesn't play that is it. Does any one know i pod inteface for Escape hybrid 07 model (built in 06)? I see that my GPS maps are very old giving me heckof a problem!!! Recently GPS is slow to do navigation, and it suddenly shows me in wrong road and guides wrong route??

I have seen portable MP# players that only play selected bit rates. The example I am thinking of would not play 192, but worked on 128.

I would agree with wobbie on this one. Also be aware that not all burning software works the same way. You may need to try different burning software with your player. Some of the music players (on your PC) may put the MP3s in a format that the player doesn't recognize. If you have Windows XP try burning in the that by sending the tracks directly to the CD drive (usually D then burn. If that doesn't work, try a different CD maker also. Some player don't like some brands of CDs. Ie: Memorex versus Maxell. Some players are just weird that way. Also test the CD in any other MP3 player to make sure the burning process works correctly.
