Ford EscapeThe Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.
Does anyone know why I get so much road noise in my 2001 Ford Escape? What are the problem areas for road noise? I have applied sound deading material on the front and rear seat floors, but it hasn't helped much. I have new tires that are balanced properly. I just get a lot of road noise while driving on the freeway. I've read others comment about excessive road noise in the Escape, but haven't heard any solutions.
I've got that too! It drives me insane! What size tires do you have? That may be part of the problem...mine are bigger, and I was told that the larger tires tend to make a 'whirring' noise at higher speeds, and nothing can be done to correct it without getting smaller tires (which would just be a hassle trying to get the speedometer fixed anyway).
Lame suggestion, but the only thing I've found to solve it is to turn the stereo up. Sorry.
