Ford EscapeThe Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.
I have a 2009 Escape XLT 2.5l 4 cyl 4WD. I also hear a whine at 60mph. Is there more information regarding the TSB?
Thanks
More? They take out the transaxle insulator bushing bolt put a damper(hunk of steel) and reinstall the bolt. Supposed to take 12 minutes to do. If they insist on a road test first, it'll take longer than to perform the repair probably.
wptski - Thanks for the info. I was actually looking for the TSB number if any one had it, so when I go to the dealership, I could give them more info
That's TSB 09-12-16.
I just dropped mine off for the that whine at 60MPH but if you have a 4WD don't you hear a "hooting" like sound every time you leave a stop? Some are quieter than others though! I'm getting that addressed today also. Took the service write up guy for a ride on the lot and he verified the sound, so that one is in the bag.
I have a small issue with the transmission. I get a hesitation to downshift "sometimes" after low speed coasting and back on the throttle. I'm hoping that they flash the PCM which is another TSB which started off only covering vehicles built last year but was just superceded to cover anything built up to 8/2/09 or the whole model year.
I am going in tomorrow to try and get all 3 TSBs done on my Mazda, assuming they have been released for that vehicle as well... 09-18-3 ("shifting issues no CEL") 09-12-11 ("hoot") and 09-12-16 ("60 mph whine")....although mine is more like "65 mph whine". 09 V6 AWD with a 09/2008 build date.

Ah, good to know Mine makes a distinct noise at exactly 65 mph...using the cruise, going up or down 1 mph causes it to go away (ie quiet at 64 or 66). Does it as you accelerate or decelerate past 65 mph, and does it at steady state 65 mph. Does it in OD, or with OD off, so driveline rpm and not engine rpm related makes sense. Suffice to say it is annoying if you like to cruise at 65 to save a little gas!

My access is just for Ford, doesn't list Mazda versions.
yeah, they used to list the Tribute on the Escape TSBs, but that no longer seems to be the case. So I am hopeful there is a Mazda equivalent...and from looking at alldata, there seems to be many redundant TSBs still between the two vehicles. Alldata is just not up-to-date with the newest ones though, the newest ones they list are from the April/May timeframe.
Anyway I'll be curious to see how the fixes work on your truck.

Hmm, AllData has added the '09s? I've checked back every so often looking for them then stumbled upon the fact that I had access on my own!
