Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Default Whining noise from 4WD???

My Escape makes a whining noise when I am going around 60 on the highway. Does anyone else have this problem? I still have warranty, what should I do?

I think it is normal.

Make sure you have no leaks, I had a leak for the rear DS at the transfer case seal.

Mine did that for a while too. Seemed to go away when the wife was at home though.

Mine does it at only 60-65 as well. I've just noticed it one day when the radio was lower though lol!

check your wheel bearings and driveshaft bearing too...those round little pesky thing will drive you nuts with the noise in the cabin....

also ensure that your axle oil and ATF are changed regularly.

I heard a whine at 60MPH from mine on Sunday. There's a TSB for a whine at 60MPH with 4WD. I have a appointment for tomorrow and figured that the TSB would cover that issue but I just noticed that the insulator bushing mentioned above is just for the I4, not the V6! Not all have mentioned what engine they have.
