Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Angry 2001 escape

My girlfriend and I have been trying to sell our escape for 1.5 years, with repeat problems ( including converter ) the value just keeps droping. I'd like to know if or what ford will do about the value going from $23,000 in 2004, to offered $4000 in 2007. In 2006 We tried to trade it in and were offered $10,000, $13,000 loss in 2 years We shook our heads and thought we could get more..... good luck. We have 2 toyotas '96 SR5 300,000 kms and put in a river, '03 runner 140,000. Nothing but rubber, brakes, oil, and lights replaced. I can get more for our 96' SR5. Disapointed isn't even the word for the Escape. Word of advice sell now while you can.

Default Dont feel like you are singled out

I bought a used Ford Explorer Sport Trac last year it is an 03 with 70,000 on it. 4 weeks ago it started getting really sluggish. I took it to have it checked out, paid $85 for them to tell me what it was, then I was told to take it to Ford as they have the warranty on it. I took it in and they diagnosed it also. It is the CC. I was told that it was ok to drive it until the part came in. Seeing as my hubby and I each work 2 jobs and our teenage son has school and a job, we NEED both our trucks running. So I drove it. I was at work one night and drove down the street, I could not get the truck to go over 5 mph. I got it back to the ford dealer and they have now had it for 4 weeks. After the third one I threw a fit and they offered me a loaner.
I am thnkful to have the loaner but we have been planning a trip to CA in my truck all year and I can not take the loaner out of Texas, so what happens to our plans to travel while they have my truck?
I dont know when or at this point IF I will ever get my truck back, I am losing hope.
Its not only the Escapes it must be other types of fords too.
Good luck to all who are going carless due to Ford not wanting to help us in a timely fashion.

I heard something about if a shop has your vehicle for an extended time period that they are required to help with said vehicles payments. Anyoen know about this?

Thanks

I thought I was lucky but I have been waiting for the dealer to get the parts in for over three weeks and still have no idea where or when they will get the parts in. I have been infromed 2 of the 3 have been recieved. I have also been informed that Ford will not honor a loaner vehicle. I have called the 800 number for Ford customer care twice but they inform me to work with my local dealer ( What are they there for ? ). I have been calling the local dealer daily and no one knows when I will be able to get my Escape back. This has been a real burden to me bacause we are a two car family with my wife and me working differnt times and places with two boys makes it impossible to car pool. In the past I have been an avid Ford fan almost every thing I have owned has had the blue oval. My favorite Nascar driver is Greg Biffle who drives a Ford. I also found out from the dealer that last week they got in a 2006 Escape with the same problem and were able to get the parts in and the Escape out in two days!!!! I feel like my Escape is being held ransom. I hope you turn out better on your situation. I am sorry to say that if this is the best that Ford can do my next vehicle will not be a Ford.
Go to the dealer and start making a scene in the showroom. Make it known to prospective buyers that when you have a problem this is what they might go through too. The dealers hate that.

My 2002 Tribute (Escape) did the exact same thing. Replaced the second converter because the guts from the first plugged it. Now the truck sounds terrible as the front converter is just a shell. The engine light is on because the front converter is essentially not there. Mechanic says its ok to run like that but likely won't pass emission tests. Front converter in Canada is $689.00 just for the part. Likely will mail order part from USA to have it installed, costs much less that way. Frustrated as to why a vehicle needs more than one converter and why they are so expensive (second one was $359.00 Canadian) as I am guessing you are also. Prepare to empty the bank account and good luck.

Default Free Catalytic Converters for Souther California Local

Are any of you with catalytic converter problems in the Southern California area?

I work with Car Sound / Magnaflow Performance Exhaust and am currently investigating catalytic converter failures and causation in later model vehicles. I have been searching the threads regarding catalyst from many forums and have posted this offering in many.

If you are not familiar with Car Sound / Magnaflow Performance Exhaust we manufacture Catalytic Converters and Performance Exhaust systems and have been in the exhaust business over 25 years...a google search can tell the rest of the story.

I am intersted in producing a replacement part for the 2001-2004 V6s that seem to be the issue of so many complaints here. I am offering the following:

1. Free Catalytic Converters and installation or a cat-back exhaust if you have functional cats and would perfer a performance part.
2. Rental car for the duration of the development process

In exchange I am looking for the following:

1. Use of the vehicle for the purpose of developing a sample part for our future prodution and sales.

We always need sample vehicles for developing our parts and if I can help keep someone from breaking the bank, why not? If you have any questions please contact me.

I have a 2002 Ford Escape and it tried to kill me. I did not know what was happening until I took it in for the third time at the local dealership. The first indication I had was while on a long trip. Arrived not feeling well and in a lot of pain. Went to a medical doctor and he had no explanation. Went to an accurpuncturist, she had not explanation. Had my car safety checked for the trip back home, nothing showed up but they were not looking for a bad CAT. Went about 100 miles on trip to home and noticed lose of power. Made it another 200 miles and it really was acting up. Took it to a dealer and the EGR valvue was replaced. This took 5 days as they didn't have the part in stock. Started to feel a little better, however, still in a lot of pain. Put it in on Saturday and got it back on Tuesday. I did ask if it was an exhaust problem. Left town and drove less than 50 miles and the car started acting up again. Had no choice but to drive it another 150 miles, not knowing that the EGR was blown. Arrived sick. Stayed there for 3 days and headed for home in the mountains. When I reached the hills I had no power and couldn't get above 25-30MPH. Arrived in the vacinity of home and went directly to the dealership here and made an appointment for the following Tuesday, it was Friday.
Took it in and asked the same question about the exhaust system. This time the new EGR valvue was cracked and blown. It was replaced and 5 days later I had my car. Two days later took it back, not running right. This time they replaced a sensor switch, part of the CA emissions. Asked the same question about the exhaust. During this time I lost coordination in my arms and legs, and still in a lot of pain. Car was delivered to me 3 days later, this time made it to the Post Office - 7 miles away and the check engine light came on. Still not knowing what was happeing I had it towed, couldn't trust the car. This time they found the CAT was totally plugged. Then everything started to make sense. I have been poisoned by my car and am going through treatments to get rid of the toxins. I also carry a carbon monoxide detector in the car. Is there anyone else out there that has had the same experience?
