Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Unhappy Ignition coils - 2005 Escape

Has anyone had any problems with the ignition coils on their Escape. Brought mine into a mechanic today because it didn't want to start and it was really sluggish and my CEL was on. Mechanic said that one of my ignition coils was cracked, which short-circuited my ECM, and I have hairline fractures in 4 other ignition coils. I'm going to be calling Ford tomorrow and see if they can reimburse me for parts and labor and see if they will replace the other 5 for free.

Anyone else having problems with the ignition coils?

Help please

Thanks for the information. Please see my post under Catalytic Converters, Turns out that three of my Ignition coils where bad, After $1100 and three conveters later my problem turns out to be yes the ignition coils. Had to replace three at a cost of $88 a piece. I can't help but think someone Ford or the mechanic is responsible for this.Has anyone gone thru this.
