Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Default Towing...need help!

I'm looking at the Escape to replace my car. I will be buying a 4-wheeler next summer and need something that can tow it. At the same time tho..I have a bit of a commute to work. I want a small SUV decent on MPG that can tow my bike. I've seen that the 2WD 3.0 V6 is good on MPG, could this rig tow a bike on a small trailer?

Anyones help would be appreciated!

I don't see why you couldn't tow it. I used to tow stuff with my '89 Chevy S-10 4 banger all the time. The truck didn't like it much and I had to ride the clutch to get it moving but it worked out. I just wouldn't expect to get very good gas mileage when towing...

iirc, the factory towing package (on the '04 w/ V-6 anyway) will allow you to tow 3500# gvw. it includes a trans fluid cooler, hitch, wiring, moulded bumper, etc. towing without the cooler supposedly voids your warrantee. ymmv.
