I bought an 05 escape 4w/d a couple of months ago and was wondering how to make sure the 4w/d is operating properly without taking it off-road ? And does the dashboard indicator for the 4w/d illuminate when it is operating correctly ? So far, it has shown only when the ignition is in the on position, before actual ignition.
The easiest way is to put in 4x4 and go to an intersection and stop. Then make a right turn. if its working you will feel it when you make the sharp turn.
