Ford Escape The Ford Escape has been thoroughly updated, reinforcing the character and appeal that have made it America's perennial best-selling small sport-utility vehicle. The improvements nearly cover the spectrum, and inject a new level of refinement. We'd call the Escape a little truck among small SUVs. Its new styling deliberately invokes Ford's larger, truck-based SUVs.

Question Lower backseat windows all the way

Hi! I just purchased a ford escape hybrid comming from a ford excursion diesel. I love the escape mileage and smaller size, although I miss some of the options. One thing that is a bother is the back seat windows not going all the way down. Has anyone fixed this annoying feature?? I'm getting about 34 mph, my ex was 19/20 but diesel is also $.30 higher here. thanks debbie

Not 100% on this but...

I don't think they can be easily modified to go all the way down. I believe its a child saftey feature.

Yes I do agree, a child safety feature ...but it should not be that hard to change the stop or something that tells it to quit. As long as the guides go down further. It strange as the ones on the excursion went down all the way. I was just hoping to hear from someone who has already been into the door. db

If you're referring to trying to lay the seats forward and flat, our '04 will do it, but you have to pull the headrests out of the rear seats to allow them to clear the front seats. Push the release tabs on the headrest, pull it completely out, and the seat will go down.

Thumbs down

if you are looking at the car from a side you will notice that the rear doors have a round decoupage that allows for the wheel space. if you draw a line downwards from the rear end of the backseat window you'll end in that curve.
unless you want to cut a hole through your door AND wheel space in the body of the car, I don't think that it would be possible to do this mod.
and anyway, if I'm not mistaken CUV stands for Compact Utility Vehicle.
