Ford EscortFord Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.
My son is looking to buy a 1996 Ford escort with a stick shift. I was curious if there are any issues that are particular to Ford escorts that I should be aware so I can check these when looking at the car.
Many kindest thanks for your help and I am happy to be aboard the forum.
Depends on condition and how well maintained the vehicle is. For a stick I couldn't tell you about the clutch I have an automatic. All in all they are good little cars and starter cars.
I would recommend one any day.
But like I said depends on how it has been treated prior, unfourtanly after two years I had to finally take her to a garage and have a tranny, breaks and lines and rotors and calipers put in, which yeah is much, but not bad considering that I am a 2nd owner and the car was in an accident before I got her, body is almost new yet so who ever did the work was real good.
So go for it if you think it's worth it, or see if you can set up an appointment with your garage and take the car for a "test drive" and have them give it a look over before buying.
