Ford EscortFord Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.
95 Escort Big Batt. Short! Blew 100A fuse, Jumpered that, now canks but no start ???
I went to try to use a possibly frozen Battery to start my racecar (95 escort lx 1.9) this spring and as soon as i hooked the (-) up it went..ZIT ZIT.. lol. well i figured the battery plates must have been touching or somthin but it definatly blew the 100amp main. i jumpered that and it did light up the dash and got'er crankin over. the wind was blowin hard today and in the the driver's seat couldn't hear the fuel pump running or not but is there somthing down the line that coulda really blew from that short. i swear i'd just like to even know how to to the ecm test cause i can't seem to find a place with full instructions and codes. please send me a link if yah can.
i'll be updating when i get to checking spark and fuel tomarrow. i have another exact car to for a back up so i have anything i need to test out with if i need to. just need some direction with these escorts. lol thanks everyone! COle
UPDATE! ..... Well resetting the fuel relay did the trick for getting it started again... But, now i believe my Alternator my be blown. as soon as i took the jumper off it quit. don't know if i blew a link somewhere or if even the regulator blew possibly. gonna be checking to see if it's making power and if it is, i guess it's something between there. if not then i guess i need to switch it out. Let me know if anyone out there can still help me with ECM tests and codes. Thanks everyone!
Um..quick thing. I wouldn't recommend using a jumper. The fuse is there for a reason, and if it blew it means you have big problems. By putting a jumper in, you might be putting other things at risk.

Well i did hook up the jumper cables to it again and checked the (+) on the alternator and it did have powere so i guess that blows my theory of somthing shorting inbetween. I guess i blew out the alternator with the battery short. I ussually just use a deep cycle battery with no alternator anyway with most of my cars. More horses! lol
Charlie, Yah i know it's kinnda risky to jumper it but as soon as i salvage a fuse off a parts car I'll be putting it back in. i'm not worried too much cause it is just a hobbystock car so most of the systems are already diconnected. Thanks for the reply!
