Default 96 escort 5spd - buzzing noise when not on

alright so i was driving my car around last night in some really nasty weather and it was fine. i got home and went inside to eat. came back outside, got in the car, got to accessories and it was fine, as soon as i cranked, complete power loss. now the car makes a buzzing noise from under the seat, guessing there's an ecu there. if i crank the key to accessory the buzzing stops, if i put the headlights on there's a horrible buzzing noise from the cluster. did something get wet maybe in that bad weather? i know the check engine light was on for some sensor, i forgot what code it was giving up. also i noticed the lights were brighter when i was on the gas instead of idling...any ideas.

start with cleaning the battery cable inside ends, check the battery; volts should be 12.5 or more. good luck

It really sounds like a bad connection at the battery because it starts messing up as soon as you put any kind of load on it.

nah i checked the connection it was fine. i was able to bypass the start by rolling down a hill, and the first time it started, everything was going crazy. the wipers were going like crazy, but they wren't on. then the car died. the second time around, it was fine. everyhting worked fine, until i put the AC on, then it just died. it still won't start. it's definently NOT that battery. ;/
