Ford Escort Ford Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.

Thumbs up better fuel milage

I've just purchased a 1996 escort lx ,1.9 engine I was very surprised and disappointed that it got only 22 -25 mpg. This car has 106000 miles and runs great .no oil use and nice power .anywho

First--I put three 100,000 ohm resistors in series to replace my intake air temperature sensor .the computer thinks its 20 degrees outside .this advances timing and would increase fuel except I lowered fuel psi in step two

second --I placed a small vacuum canister with a check valve to the fuel pressure regulator ,so the pressure would decrease ,so less fuel when the injectors fire
third ---I placed a voltage tap to a {volt meter} so I could keep an eye on the oxygen sensor ,I placed a dimmer switch in the in the oxygen sensor (brown wire so I could trick the computer into thinking the fuel mixture was too rich.
I'm getting almost 40 mpg Don't think this is a joke .I need some help to get to 60 mpg .

Do you know how to change the timing where it would at least spark knock a little .
I've been working with water injection on this car also.
