Ford Escort Ford Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.

Default 99 escort will not start.

Hey, I just replaced the transmission in a 99 escort and now it will not start. I do not have any spark to the the plugs. I went back and checked all of my connections and they appear to be connected properly. This was a used trans and I used the sensors that came with that trans other than the sensor on the shaft for the shift cable and what I assume to the be some sort of speed sensor on the top of the trans by the left inner fender. Other than that I left what was on the donor trans in place although I can't imagine that would have anything to do with no spark.

Sounds like you damaged or dis-connected the crank position sensor. It is the two wire sensor mounted in the block on the front side of the engine bay. If you follow the seam where the engine and tranny meet, you'll find it in the foward facing side halfway between the head and oil pan.
