Ford EscortFord Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.
2.0 SOHC - So my girlfriends car just started having idleing problems... it was slightly rough but didnt affect driving at first. After a week or two it then started affecting driving (loss of power, Horribly rough idleing when coming to a stop, and has once or twice died) Somewhere in this she told me the check engine light came on and came up with the code P0171. O2 Sensor detects that engine is running lean on fuel. My first Inclination was that the MAF was dirty or went bad... i cleaned the MAF which only fixed the problem for a couple miles. I think just resetting the battery caused it to run smooth for as long. Has anyone had this code and what was the most likely cause. I'm really close to replacing the MAF which i think is the cause but it would cost $105 and if its not the problem i will lose my money.

OK tthanks for helping dipshit.. so i was a little bit off. your quote helped worth shit. i was off by saying SOHC from DOHC and you told me shit. thanks a bunch. i'm an automative technician myself. if you find this guy correcting you on the tiniest detail come to me. i already knoww the answer to my problem. this guy ain't worth shit. contact me at stryker8504@aol.com. i'll help you out at the most of my ability.
Well, if this is how you act when someone tries to help you, I don't know why anyone would let you work on thier car. Furthermore, repair procedures for the 4-door and 2-door Escort are going to be different since they used different drivetrains and fuel systems. Since it was an unknown if you had a DOHC ZX2 or the SOHC Sedan, it was imparitive to know exactly what car and engine you have. But, since you seem to be a idiot asshole, I wouldn't expect you to know that.
If you didn't find the link helpful, you are full of shit or you didn't provide the correct symptoms (which is likey since you can't even tell us what engine you have) or you are just flat out lying.
I really don't see what you are shitty about. Perhaps your uncle abused you in the closet when you were young. Whatever the reason no one is going to help you. I didn't get shitty or call you stupid, I just wanted to know what car and engine you are working on. Go ahead and turn off your internet bully e-penis and get out of your parents basement. Go out into the world and try to find a way to ditch that attitude you have.

Oh, BTW, if you were really a tech you would know that 99% of the time a lean code like that is a vaccum leak. Usually it is caused by a bad PCV line (just like I described in that link I gave you) and not by a sensor. The MAF causes a whole different range of problems of its' own and usually renders the car undrivable. Another thing a tech would know is to unplug the MAF and see if the car runs any better. If it does, then the perhaps the MAF is the issue since the car runs on a base table programmed into the PCM. This richens up the mixture. If the code is caused by a vaccum leak the car will probably run close to normal. If it is caused by the MAF, it will hesitate and dip in power when the throttle is wide open. But, since you are a tech you already know this.
