HVAC Blower Motor resistor connector wiring

I own and purchased two 2001 Escort SE's. The wiring harness and Blower Resistor Connector have burnt up on both. Has any other owners experienced the same problem. It would seem to me strange that it has only happen to my to Escorts.

If it is a common problem that the connectors and wiring harnesses are burning up then perhaps it is a manufacturing defect with potential life threating issues. An issue that perhaps should result in a safety recall.
