Ford Escort Ford Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.

Default Escort LX 94 transmission or engine problem?

I have a 94 Escort LX and i noticed that the transmission is shifting too early specially when drive at 40mph that goes to OD and when i slow down it wont backshift i can feel how the car shake until i manually change from OD to D, I change the fluid no to long ago (2months) and I had been playing with the throttle cable but I have not seen any difference.
Also I notice that my car loss a lot of power compare with my friend’s car that is the same model and year, on my car I have to press the gas all the floor to speed up to get to 65mph.
I don’t have Check engine light on and I am getting 25mpg on city, Is this ok?
Does anyone know how to tune up the transmission? Any suggestion to improve my mpg.

Thanks.
