Default What sensors affect timing?
I don't know what the hell is going on with this car. 97 escort 2.0 SOHC auto. Sputtered backfired and died going down the road, now it won't hardly run at all. My scanner reading the live data shows timing at about 25 degrees advance at idle, and 45 degrees advance at around 2500 rpm's. Obviously the timing is whacked out. So far I've replaced the cam sensor, crank sensor, ecm, and removed the timing cover and verified the marks all line up and it didn't jump time. Are there any other sensors that the computer uses to adjust the timing? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
