Ford Escort Ford Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.

Question 1997 Escort Tach. installation problem

Just got a tachometer for my 1997 ford escort, and am having a wee bit of trouble getting it going. I've looked all over the place for the answer to my problem, it's grounded, hooked to a 12v power source, but when it comes to hooking it up to something so that it can read my cars RPMs... I'm totally in the dark. If anyone can, please shed some light on my situation.

At the coil pack there is a 3 wire connector. The wire on the left is channel 1, the middle wire is the 12 volt supply, and the wire on the right is channel 2. Channel 1 is a postive trigger and channel 2 is a negative trigger. Use whichever one your tach is set-up for. Which is probably negative trigger.

hey i have a 2000 ford contour se 2.0 and i bought a universal sunpro tach II and it said to hook the tach wire up to the power distribution wire. the wire they said to hook it to was in a bundle of about 50 wires and it said to hook it to a white wire with a black stripe. i did so and have everything hooked up. it doesnt work. i looked again and realized there is about three white wires with black stripes. does anyone know if i can just hook it up to the ignition coil like the person above did or do i have to seek a professional?

thanks
