Question Ford escort gt bad tranny..
I know it has a 1.8 l DOHC mazda engine. my problem is that i cant find a trannny in the springfield MA area... what other tranny's are compatible with that engine? does any one know ,or was that engine specifically designed for the gt

The Kia IS NOT a direct drop in !!! the spline count on the axles are different!
your only direct options are
91-96 Escort GT,
91-96 Mercury Tracer LT-S
90-94 Protege LX
thats it!
The kia wont be plug and play
the 323/MX-3 both come with and F25 trans where as the Escort GT has a G25
you CAN use the SOHC trans... but the gearing will be different and it will be substantially weaker
