Ignition key won't turn to Lock position On my 1996 Escort LX, non-tilt steering column, the ignition key won't turn back far enough to LOCK position, and key remains in ignition. I can still turn it forward to engage the starter and drive, but I can only get the key to turn back to the ACC position (1). I have tried dry graphite lube, and failing that I have tried PB Blaster penetrating lube, which didn't work either. Anyone else have this issue? Is there a hidden key release button that I'm not seeing. Ignition worked fine the first 2 weeks since car purchase. Does ignition need to be replaced, and is it easily done? Can a new ignition be keyed to my current key set?
