Ford Escort Ford Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.

yeah, i did, that was my first step, second step i took it to my mechanic, very reliable i used to drive a wrecker for AAA so i know his credentials, he hooked up the computer and came back with an error code of 500.. which i was told on another web site that it was the speed sensor, but that was a pay site and i dont want to pay for something that someone here can tell me ... now i forgot to mention, from time to time my speedo will come back on but only for a short time

I noticed on my wifes' ZX2 that if the cruise control module was unplugged, the horn wouldn't work. It was the damnest thing. The VSS is on top of the tranny near the firewall. It has two wires and probably a green plastic insert in the top.

when looking for this module where should i look? that would be a wierd thing for it to be unpluged.. i am gonna check the wires for the speed sensor that another member had mentioned.. i had some extra corrosion from my battery that may have caused the wires to either corrode themselves or break somehow... its just the darndest thing that i am seeing whenever i press the set button on the cruise control i lose my speedo hmmm well lets see what i find

There are two cables coming from the throttle body. One goes towards the driver side, your gas pedal, and the other goes towards the passenger side. The one going to the passenger side is for the cruise. Follow that cable to the cruise box.
