Ford Escort Ford Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.

Nope I don't believe you dropped off almost 1400 or more lbs even though you still have that heavy ass V8 in there.

Put some "Detailed" pictures of this 1800lbs car up so we can see.

Cosworth

this is the engine cosworth is putting into the focus, and i know it's not quite as powerful as the one in my escort, but i supposedly bought one that the gent said "was one of Colin McRea's back-up car. i didn't really care when i bought it... it does 266@6250Hp/345@3200torque on the Dyno. that's all 4 wheels though. it might have been greater if i only had front. it can still be modified...

ha ha ur funny the foucus motor wont drop in the escort the mounts are wrong u have to turn ur engine compartment into swiss chese to make it work then u cant use the escorts wireing harness not even from the ztec which is your best bet depending on the year of your escort 96 and below the best motor is mine the bp . 96 and up was the dohc ztec motor both do about 140 hp with a GOOd intake and exuast with header .
ur crazy u should sell that duratec for somthing that is plug and play .
and budjet frindly if done my hole settup for about 1400 the way it sits im at around 148
at the crank 130 at the wheels but not for long as soon as i get a gtx ecu ill be 180 to the wheels .

i never played with the idea, just thought i'd throw that out and see what could happen.
wait, are your engines transversely mounted? that might be why. mine is conventionally mounted... i've never really looked at a regular escort after my '86

can you use any parts from the Cosi page? you'd have to look under heritage...

here...
Cosworth

this is the block that's in mine, and after researching some, i found i can get up to around 540BHP...
here, the site i'm looking at for that, and i DO plan on looking further into this...

Ford Cosworth YB 16valve Turbo engine information
foreign... The Cosworth YB engine.... - MIG Performance Vauxhalls

i found out you guys CAN use it. If you have the bread of course...
