Ford EscortFord Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.
so I replaced my fuel pump on my 1991 ford escort lx (1.9L) and they say if your gonna replace the pump you should replace the fuel filter as well. anyways when the car gets to just past a half a tank and I take a turn to quick the car loses fuel and dies....
On the pump you didnt connect the pick-up correctly when you put it back in the tank. You will have to take it out and stick you hand in the tank to see if it fell off or if it is still attached to the assembly.

pick up? whats that, the strainer? anyways thats not it because nothing has fallen off the pump, i even replaced the assembly on the pump itself. maybe the fuel line is leaking? lemme know
What Mark said makes sense.
Does it ever happen when you have a full tank?
IF it happens more, or less, dependeing upon the fuel level, it must be inside the tank rather than outside it.

Something is screwed up on the assembly when you put it back in the tank.
the assembly is fine... i know everybody is trying to help but why do you all keep saying it has to do with the pump? putting the pump in isn't that hard.....anyways, it ended being the fuel line. when i took it off the filter, where it goes into the filter it is now leaking... so when I get to about 3/4 empty and go around a corner to fast, gas is leaking out thus the motor not having enough gas to go on without dying. does anybody know how to install a new fuel line connector????

This post makes no sense. If it's the filter connector, isn't that outside the tank? How would the level lin the tank affect the filter? So long as the pump is able to pump fuel, the filter has no idea how much fuel is in the tank.

Well,
One way to prove Mark wrong is to see if you can drive your car until it gets to about an eigth of a tank. If you get to 1/4th tank and run out of gas, then he is right.
