Fuel Line Connector Install -1991 escort

does anybody know how to install a fuel line connector (the one that goes into the filter). the connector that is on their now has been on there since day one and now its leaking so when I go around corners when there is less than a quarter tank it dies out because the gas is leaking out of the connector that is on their now. would be greatly appreciated if anybody knew what i am talking about. i'm assuming that you cut the old one off and connect it some how. let me know people. this car and is approaching 250K and still runs like a top besides this.... here is a picture of what i'm buying to fix the problem........
