I was driving and the engine started to whine and lose power. I pulled into parking lot and car would no longer accelerate. It stopped, and I tried to put it in reverse, but that would not work either. I ended up pushing the car into a parking spot and checking trans. fluid. The fluid was not red, but more of a thin oil consitancy and black... If you think you might know how to help that would be great, I have only owned the car for about a month, so there is no telling what has been done to it in the past.

What is it an auto or manual? If it's an auto get a fluid and filter change it will work wonders. If a manual, drain the fluid put in 2 3/4 quarts of gear oil, and that will fix the problem.
