94 Escort Transmission no 4th gear shift

I have a 94 Ford Escort with automatic 4 speed transmission.

The transmission will not shift to 4th gear. I was having a big problem with the seal on the transmission, the one that faces the engine, leaking transmission fluid like crazy.

The seals were changed as wheel as the turbine. After that the transmission would not shift to 4th gear.

Before changing the seals, the transmission would leak fluid and it would start to have problems shifting at all, so I would put transmission fluid.

Now, the transmission shifts as usual but it would not shift to 4th. For example, I'm driving 50+ miles and I shift to neutral, then I shift to Drive, and the transmission will shift on 4th, after almost a second or two it will shift to 3rd gear.

Due to this the engine is overheating because it cannot shift to 4th.
