Ford Escort Ford Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.

Default Bad motor mounts?

How can you tell if the motor or trans mount are bad? Is there a way to tell if they are bad?

Excessive noise transmitted through the frame of the vehicle.
Cracks or tears seen in the rubber parts on the mounts.

Sometimes the symptoms of a bad/busted mount may mimmick having transmission issues or engine misses.

But you can usually tell when a mount is bad just by visually inspecting them and if necessary, taking them off.

The engine mounts used on the Escorts are very well designed and seldom fail unless it's been in a wreck or damaged during disassembly/reassembly.
