Ford Escort Ford Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.

Default 92 Escort engine in 92 tracer

I have a 92 tracer Automatic engine and i replaced it with a 92 escort manual engine
i took off all the extras but it doesnt seem to want to turn the transmission when i bolt in the fly wheel. when i put the engine back in the starter wouldnt turn it either so now i have to take it apart again.
soes anyone know if there are spacing issues for the shim plate?
from changing an automatic with a manual?
please help i need this car running im so close, i think?

First off, you cannot change a 1.9 SOHC with a 1.8 DOHC, the transmissions are totally different. You now have to either get an auto tranny for the Escort engine, or, get the 92 Tracer engine for the tranny.

both the engines are 1.9 it should work but for some reason i cannot get the tranni to move, its not because of different sized engines. it has to be a spacing issue or something, anyone else have any suggestions?

The only other thing that may cause it something may have moved when you took it part, or you don't have something lined up properly.
