Question I wanna swap an EVO into an escort and make it all wheel drive can anyone help me
ok... I have a 91 ford escort GT great condition bout to get it painted... but thats besides the fact I wanna make a sick ass escort and the only way I figga ill turn heads and pop eyes is if I go wide body and all wheel drive. now my problem I cant find anything stateside for an rs2000 I cant even find the car it self its all ova in europe. so I was thinkin how sick it wud be to have an EVO 8 motor and drive train in an escort. it wud be light as shit and kill anything on the street. so Does anybody have a idea where to start.

IK that I already own an EVO X thats what gave me the Idea cuz my evo is fast as shit. but I want somethin thats fast as shit and a sleeper ppl wont expect a little escort to have 450-500 hp evo motor on an all wheel drive setup so when I get to the track o pull up on someone on the street I can completly blow there mindswith the awsomeness of it

Buy an EVO and and take your Escort GT panels and weld them onto the EVO, this is the only way you will get an EVO engine to handle looking like an Escort with out ripping the Escort apart with the EVO power.

Really DAMN!!.... so u sayin that even if I just want the power of the evo IDC about the handlein it still wudnt b possible all it wud do is rip the car apart

No you can build an Escort engine to do the same thing. What I am saying is that with all of the modifications you will need to do to make it fit that the strength of the body/frame will most likely be weakened.

The Escort was never designed to be a Muscle car, when you add high HP stock things will get ripped apart.

I agree with Mark V. In theory, you can put the EVO drivetrain in the Escort and actually strengthen it. But, that's a lot of work just to make it go fast. You're better off building a high powered, turbocharged Escort motor. Then again, you'll need a beefier transmission.

See i was looking at just making a straight Four RWD escort about the same year. I feel that would be easier. And wouldnt weaken the car. I have the resources to get what ever i need as far as making the frame stronger and or what ever may need to be done. But i was also looking at puting a 5.0 in a probe haha. I am very serious about doing either one of these swaps. I'd rather do the escort. I was looking around for motors and I am a very big fan of Nissan in the first place (350,370,300,240) I was thinking of a 240 Red tob SR20dett. Those blocks can put out 400 HP stock before rebuilding the internals. Which i would do just because i dont believe in just buying a motor from someone and throwing it in the car. If i have it apart i am going to clean it and build it up. Why take it apart more then you have to. Unless you are gonna race it haha.
But i am getting far ahead of myself. But if you know of any sites or places i can visit to see some other ideas and pro's Con's to this idea please let me know thank you very much
