Ford Escort Ford Escort ZX2 is a hot-looking compact coupe with a rakish design. Yet its handsome interior reveals a roomy back seat and surprisingly large trunk. ZX2 provides responsive handling and good road manners and its engine delivers decent power. At the same time, the ZX2 is a practical car, with plenty of room in the back seats for friends.

Default 2000 Escort dead

My daughters 2000 Escort is completly dead. The battery has 12.3 volts and shows full charge on the charger. All power to everything but the door dinger is dead. I checked all the fuses and couldn't find a bad one. Battery terminals are clean. The 100 amp fuse was the first one I checked. So any suggestions on where to start looking for the problem ?? Thanks Glen

It's starting to look like it was a bad cable end on the ground post of the battery. I just cleaned it a week ago, so I'll change it tonight just to be safe.

Nitro,
You probably found the problem, especially if EVERYTHING is dead.
Also just FYI a fully charged battery should read 12.66 volts.

If it is not holding a charge, it may be time for a new one.

Courtesy Mark v
Battery Charge Table
12.6V or higher: 100% charge
12.4V - 12.6V: 75-100%
12.2V - 12.4V: 50-75%
12.0V - 12.2V: 25-50%
11.7V - 12.0V: 0-25%
11.7V or less: 0% (and probably not capable of being recharged).
